When most people think of the Hebrew alphabet, they think of a language.

But what if it is much more than that?

What if these 22 ancient letters could deepen your understanding of Scripture, enrich your Bible study, and draw you closer to the heart of God?

That is the journey behind God's Love Letters: Ancient Letters, Living Truth.

The Hebrew alphabet we know today, commonly called the Alef-Bet, consists of just 22 letters. Yet these same letters have faithfully carried God's Word for thousands of years. Every Hebrew word in the Old Testament is formed from these letters, from the very first word in Genesis to the final pages of the prophets.

As the Hebrew language developed throughout history, these letters became the building blocks of words, names, prayers, songs, and the Scriptures we read today.

Take the Hebrew word Av (אָב), meaning Father. It is formed from the first two Hebrew letters, Alef (Ox) and Bet (House). Historically, Alef (Ox) represented strength, while Bet (House) represented a house or household. Together, they formed the word Av, portraying the father as the strength of the household.

Another example is El (אֵל), one of the Hebrew words for God. It is formed from Alef (Ox) and Lamed (Shepherd's Staff). Historically, Alef (Ox) represented strength, and Lamed (Shepherd's Staff) represented authority. Together, they portray strength and authority, pointing to the One who rules and leads.

Ancient Hebrew words did not appear randomly. Historically, words were formed from the Hebrew letters themselves. Each letter carried its own name and historical meaning. When letters came together, they formed words that painted memorable pictures, helping people remember and communicate ideas in the ancient world.

This historical perspective does not replace a word's lexical meaning or its biblical context. Rather, it helps us appreciate how the Hebrew language historically developed and why so many Hebrew words are beautifully interconnected.

For me, studying the Hebrew letters has transformed the way I read Scripture. They have opened my eyes to patterns, connections, and layers of meaning that have deepened my love for God's Word.
